Should You Move In With Bae? When Moving In Together and Splitting Bills Might Make Sense

When deciding to move in with your significant other, there are many things to consider. The financial benefits might be one reason you are considering taking the big plunge. Many experts would advise against this, but here we’ll give you a shortlist of why shacking up with your bae might be a good move financially.

1. You’ll save a ton of money. Let’s face it, money is a big motivator in today’s society and we all need it to survive. Moving in with your significant other can greatly decrease your fixed monthly living expenses and monthly grocery bill. This works out even better if you move into your bae’s already established living arrangement and don’t have to pay any large bills.

2. You will be able to get a nicer place than what you could afford alone. Having a built-in roommate could mean that you can afford a nicer and bigger place than you could have afforded before. You won’t be restricted to just considering your budget.

3. You can move to a better area. More people want to move to an area that is walkable than ever before. Housing is becoming increasingly unaffordable and spaces in nicer areas are becoming out of reach to most young adults. The good news is if you live with your bae and you both have a healthy income, you can afford to live in a nicer area that is more walkable than somewhere further out.

Moving in with your significant other is a very big deal. In addition to the financial gains, you should also consider if you’re emotionally prepared to “playhouse.” Having a discussion about finances and how to plan out your new place before you make any huge relationship decisions is always a great idea.
