Why Diversity & Inclusion Matters, Especially In the Workplace

In the past decade, the workplace has changed significantly. Companies started allowing employees to work flexible schedules and/or from home, perks like unlimited vacation and free lunches became commonplace, and we started to see a larger focus on diversity and inclusion with the adoption of gender pronouns, inclusive benefits, and more.

Even in the past year and a half (see: a global pandemic), there have been significant changes in the workplace. More companies than ever started allowing their employees to work remotely due to COVID-19 concerns and social distancing guidelines, and now several companies have even allowed employees to continue working remotely permanently or are adopting a hybrid workforce so employees only have to be in the office part-time.

With Generation Z now being the dominant group who is graduating college and entering the workforce (or will soon be entering the workforce), it’s even more important for companies to ensure a diverse and inclusive work culture. Here at The Life Currency (TLC), which is powered by mentors, we are committed to helping Generation Z navigate the nuances of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and at school, and help support individuals in advocating for inclusivity and equal treatment among all. Sign up for the TLC newsletter here to stay in the loop on our latest articles—they offer advice on navigating your career and life in your 20s, staying loyal to yourself, and so much more!
