Why Diversity & Inclusion Matters, Especially In the Workplace
In the past decade, the workplace has changed significantly. Companies started allowing employees to work flexible schedules and/or from home, perks like unlimited vacation and free lunches became commonplace, and we started to see a larger focus on diversity and inclusion with the adoption of gender pronouns, inclusive benefits, and more.
Even in the past year and a half (see: a global pandemic), there have been significant changes in the workplace. More companies than ever started allowing their employees to work remotely due to COVID-19 concerns and social distancing guidelines, and now several companies have even allowed employees to continue working remotely permanently or are adopting a hybrid workforce so employees only have to be in the office part-time.
With Generation Z now being the dominant group who is graduating college and entering the workforce (or will soon be entering the workforce), it’s even more important for companies to ensure a diverse and inclusive work culture. Here at The Life Currency (TLC), which is powered by mentors, we are committed to helping Generation Z navigate the nuances of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and at school, and help support individuals in advocating for inclusivity and equal treatment among all.
