Celebrating Body Positivity: 4 Creatives and Collectives That Are Incredibly Inclusive

For as long as we can remember, there’s always been a sense of body-shaming floating around in the air. More specifically, floating around in the media. Our brains have been burned by images with picture-perfect bodies that, although look gorgeous, always felt a bit unrealistic. And uninviting.

Eventually, we grew tired of the various body-shaming we were subjected to. Instead, we started to turn it around for the better: drop the shame and bring on the positivity.

We’re gratefully in a new era where brands and communities are intentional with being inclusive to consumers of all shapes and sizes. Whether it’s workout gear, intimate apparel, or any other product popular in consumerism, we’re starting to see models that symbolize all types of bodies. That’s pretty incredible!

To celebrate the body positive movement that continues to grow, we’re highlighting a few of our favorite creatives, collectives, and companies that are doing a helluva good job at inclusion:

Ev’Yan Whitney

We all deserve to reconnect with our respective bodies…and Ev’Yan Whitney is dedicated to ensuring she supports us in achieving that. As a sensualist, sexuality doula, and somatic practitioner, Ev’Yan values the importance of healing to create the best relationship with your body.

Ev’Yan is the creator of the #SensualSelfieChallenge, an online campaign that encourages women to celebrate their body and sensuality by sharing body-positive photos of themselves. Ev’Yan is also the author of the guided journal, Sensual Self: Prompts for Getting in Touch with Your Body, designed to help you show appreciation for your body.

The Unplug Collective

Deconstructing harmful systems such as fatphobia and diet culture requires a community; fortunately, we have one with this incredible collective. The Unplug Collective is an platform against body discrimination. Instead, they promote body positivity by reimagining bodies as beautiful spaces that are healing, physically and mentally.

The Unplug Collective uses their platform to share stories of body positivity, self-acceptance, and freedom of expression. Additionally, they often run campaigns highlighting all of the beautiful shapes and forms that our bodies come naturally in.

Girlfriend Collective

When it comes to working out and getting in the best shape for you and your body, exercising shouldn’t be exclusive. Instead, it should be as inclusive as the Girlfriend Collective, a clothing brand that specializes in creating ethically-sourced clothing (ranging from workout gear, intimate wear, swimwear, and more).

The Girlfriend Collective is one of the most inclusive clothing brands out right now, offering sizes ranging from XXS to X6L. Additionally, they feature models in their catalog that showcases the clothing. Between being sustainable and extremely body-positive, this brand is at an intersection that serves as a safe space for many.

Unbound Babes

Self-love doesn’t stop with positive affirmations and tenderness towards your self-care; it also has a huge impact on your relationship with your body. Unbound Babes, an online sex toy shop, promotes body positivity by encouraging you to explore your sensuality by spending some quality “solo” time.

Unbound Babes offers you toys that help you become more comfortable with the skin you’re in. By taking the time to learn more about yourself in this sense, it allows you to grow a greater appreciation and gratitude for the body you proudly own!
